Day 1 Friday, 02 June
Departure from Chicago on SAS flight SK944 to Copenhagen. Departure is
at 10:00pm Chicago time. meet your tour director at the check-in counter of SAS.
Day 2, Saturday, 03 June
Upon arrival at Copenhagen at 1:10PM connect with flight SK559
departing at 2:20PM to Paris. After arrival our bus takes you to Normandy, where
you will check-in and overnight at Chateau Kinnor, Fervaques, Pays d'Auge
Normandy. The hotel is a villa standing in the middle of a superb park with trees.
Welcome dinner. Overnight at Chateau Kinnor.(B,D)
Day 3 Sunday, 04June
After breakfast there will be a morning visit to the famous Mont St. Michel, the
picturesque village on the rocks of the Normandy coast with its typical houses
with woodwork. Lunch is on your own. Visit the famou Abbey of St. Michel,
a landmark situated on a peninsula and official monument since 1874 and one
of the most famous sights in France, continue to the US Military Cemetery
(St. James, Mont-Saint Martin) between Avrances and Fougeres. Continue to.
Overnight at Chateau Kinnor.(B)
Day 4 Monday, 05 June
After breakfast drive through the "Swiss Normandy" region and enjoy free time in
Clecy, a nice village. Afternoon visit to Falaise and the museum August 1944
( one hour). The museum is about the most important period of the battle in this
part of Normandy, August 1944; many vehicles, uniforms and representation of
Canadian soldiers entering Falaise are on display. Overnight at Chateau Kinnor. (B)
Day 5 Tuesday, 06 June - day of Commemoration
After breakfast ceremony at the monument of liberty, Omaha Beach, Cemetary
Colleville sur Mer, St Laurent sur Mer, Pointe du Hoc, Ste-Mere Eglise.
Return to the hotel. Overnight at Chateau Kinnor. (B/D)
Day 6 Wednesday, 07 June
After breakfast Morning visit to Beuvron and Auge, among the most beautiful
villages in France. Then continue to Le Breuil-en-Auge for a guided visit to the
Calvados distillery of Chateau du Breuil, tasting of Calvados and Pommeau,
duration approx. 45 minutes. Afternoon guided tour to Honfleur and see famous
Pont (bridge) de Normandie. Return to hotel for overnight. Lunch and dinner on
own. Overnight at Chateau Kinnor(B)
Day 7 Thursday, 08 June
After Breakfast a morning visit to the Plece Memorial - "Memorial pour la Paix"
in Caen. This memorial takes you back to the causes and meaning of WWII and
has several parts:
1) the failure of Plece. 2) France and it's black period. 3) World War - Total War.
4) D- Day (film). 5) The Battle of Normandy (film, map, slides). 6) Hope (film).
7) Gallery of the Nobel Peace Prizes (duration 3 hours). Afternoon guided visit to
Ste-Mere Eglise with visit to museum of the Allied troops; exhibition on the American
invasion of June 5-6 1944. return to hotel. Overnight at Chateau Kinnor (B)
Day 8 Friday, 09 June
After Breakfast morning guided tour to Caen to see Abbey aux Hommes, aux
Dames and more. Afternoon visit Bayeux, visit to Tapisserie de la Reine Mathilde,
a self guided tour along the famous tapistry (70m long and 50cm high) representing
the Battle against England, Oct. 14th 1066, conducted by William, Duke of
Normandy (duration 1.15hr). Musee Memorial de la Bataille de Normandie;
about military and human history of the battle of Normandy, that took place from
June 7th to August 22nd, 1944, by means of documents, war materials, slides
and film (duration 1.5hrs). Remaindr of afternoon free to explore Bayeux and return to the
hotel. Overnight at Chateau Kinnor. (B)
Day 9 Saturday, 10 June
After breakfast the bus will take you back to Paris. where you will check in to the
Hotel Blanche Fontaine, 9th arrondissement. The day is free to relax and explore
Paris on your own. We suggest you go see Montmatre, Notre dame, Ile St-Louis
and the Marais quarter. Overnight at Hotel Blanche Fontaine. (B)
Day 10 Sunday, 11 June
After breakfast you will have the opportunity to join a morning guided tour (3 hrs) with
entrance to The Eiffel Tower, and a Seine River cruise. Farewell dinner in a
restaurant "nos ancetres les Gaulois" or similar. Overnight at the Hotel
Blanche Fontaine . (B/D)
Day 11 Monday, 12 June
After breakfast early drive back to Paris for flight on SAS bound for Copenhagen departure
is at 12:10pm arriving at Copenhagen at 2:00pm. Connect to SAS flight 943 departure
at 3:40pm arriving into Chicago O'Hare airport at 5:40pm.
Welcome home!
Tour includes tour escort and English speaking guide throughout as per itinerary,
air transportation from Chicago, (can be arranged from any city at slight variance in
cost), all hotels, meals, tours, transfers as indicated, entrance fees and taxes and
service based on itinerary. Based on 2 persons sharing. All taxes, baggage handling.
