New Orleans Easter 2001

Long weekend in New Orleans, 11 April 2001
Featuring The French Quarter Hotels

Hotel St. Marie, Prince Conti and the Place D'Armes 

Focus: Culinary and cultural experience.

 

Day 01, 11 April, Wednesday.

Depart from home and arrive New Orleans mid morning.  Our bus will meet group and take you for a city tour to include the famous cemetery, before going to Hotel St. Marie in the French Quarter for check-in.m  Afternoon free for exploring on your own.  In the evening our bus will take you to The Commanders palace in the Garden District, for a welcome dinner.  Your bus  will return you to the French Quarter for an evening on your own. 
May we suggest a stop at Preservation hall or O'Brians? (D)

 

Day 02, 12 April, Thursday.

After breakfast at the hotel we will offer an optional program at the Culinary Institute, with Lunch.  If you don't join that you may explore New Orleans and perhaps take a Paddle Wheeler Mississippi River  tour on your own. May we suggest a stroll down to Jackson Square and a visit  late afternoon for coffee at Cafe du Monde, with perhaps a famous Beignet?  Dinner on your own.  May we suggest such famous places as The court of the Two Sisters? We will explore the world of Jazz later. (B/L/D)

Day 03, 13 April, Friday (Good Friday)

After breakfast at the hotel, we will go on a Swamp and Bayou tour in the outlying areas.  You will experience a tour on a pontoon boat and we will be looking for wildlife.   We should also experienc some of the Cajun culture. We will return to the French Quarter late afternoon.  Dinner will be at  Emerils. For those who wish to join, will explore more Jazz later. (B/D)

day 04, 14 April, Saturday

After breakfast at the hotel Optional tour to Avery Island/Tabasco Plant. Leave
hotel: 9:00 AM. Arrive at the Island at 11:30. Tour/shopping from 11:30 to
1:00. Lunch from 1:00 to 2:30. Back to the hotel by 5:00.  Other alternatives if you don't join will be to explore more of the French Quarter.  Farewell dinner at Bayona. Anyone for more Jazz, or tthe house of Blues? (B/D)

Day 05, 15 April, Sunday

We will go to the Garden District for Sunday brunch at The Commanders Palace. Kindly have your luggage packed and brought to the lobby, before we leave.   Late afternoon we will be taken to the airport for the flight home.
