20 Day Itinerary East Africa
Kenya and Tanzania with 8 days
on
Safari, 8 days in Mombasa and 3 days in Copenhagen.

Minimum 2 persons traveling.
Day 1 Sunday.
Departure from USA home city via Chicago, New York or Seattle
on SAS to Copenhagen, arriving the next day.
Day 2 Monday.
After arrival at Copenhagen, there is one day
layover at Copenhagen . You will transfer to your hotel
the Dan Hotel, just outside the airport (or similar category).
You may choose to take a 3 hour city sightseeing tour; however,
the tour is on your own and operating based on the minimum
number of 10 guests. It is recommeded to take a trip into the city
center, only a 20 minute cab ride from the hotel, or you can take an
airport bus to the main railway station, or a local bus right outside
your hotel. A stroll down the famous walking street "Stroeget" is
recommended. You can find many small bars and restaurants
at Nyhavn, (the waterfront of the old part of the city), and the Little
Mermaid is not too far off, if you care to walk from Nyhavn.
You may also chose to take a train ride to Rungsted, to visit
the home of Danish born author Karen Blixen, made famous for her
life work in Karen, just outside Nairobi. her home in Denmark
is now a museum called Rungstedlund. You will see her farm and
school house in Nairobi. Incidentally, you must take your luggage
out with you through customs on arrival to Copenhagen.
Day 3 Tuesday.
After an early breakfast you will transfer back to the airport
and re-check-in at the SAS counter, no later than 4:00pm
Tuesday for the early evening departure on SAS to London,
where you will connect to Kenya Airways flight bound for
Mombasa.
Day 4 Wednesday
After breakfast on board, you arrive into Mombasa at 07:00am.
You will start driving immediately, south to Taita Hills Lodge.
After lunch you have the afternoon at leisure. You can also join on
your first afternoon game drive.
Day 5 Thursday
After Breakfast you will drive towards the border between Kenya
and Tanzania at Taveta. Here Tanzanian busses and drivers will
take over. You will continue to Arusha where you will stop for
lunch before continuing to the fascinating site of the Ngorongoro
Crater. The Crater covers an area of 6475 square kilometers.
Every form for animal life is practically present here. You will
arrive at your lodge late afternoon, when you can relax and enjoy
the beautiful sights and nature before you. This Crater is the most
magnificent of the African parks; and, The Crater is home for one
of the biggest concentrations of wild life, i.e. elephants, lions,
buffalo, rhino, leopard and chimpanzee, not to forget zebra, gazelle,
wildebeest and antelope. Dinner will be at the lodge.
Day 6 Friday
After breakfast at sunrise, you will drive down 2400 meters to the
bottom of the crater, one of the worlds largest. You will get a
good impression of its grandeur and its proportions. You will
attempt to get close to the waking animals. This is the time of day
they are easiest to locate. Midmorning you return to the lodge for a
leisurely lunch. late afternoon you go down again into the crater
for more game viewing. Dinner will be served at the lodge.
Day 7 Saturday
After Breakfast the safari continues to the great Savannah, The
Serengeti. On the way you will stop at the Olduvai Gorge, an area
known to be a site of the pre-historic man. The Serengeti can best
be described in numbers. It is an established fact that there are
more than one million animals in the area and a third of them are
Wildebeeste-Beast. This is a tremendous resource of food for lions,
cheetah and leopard which normally are hard to find in many other
parks.
Day 8 Sunday
After breakfast you continue the game viewing in The Serengeti.
Dinner and overnight will again be at a lodge in the park.
Day 9 Monday
After breakfast the safari continues to the Manyara Lake National
Park. Towards the east the park falls down to the lake shore.
Towards the northwest the park borders The Great Rift Valley.
You will stop at a fantastic view point. The afternoon game drive
will be in search of resting animals. You will have dinner and
overnight at Manyara.
Tuesday Day 10 to Tuesday Day 17
Breakfast is offered daily. The days are on your own to pursue
personal business, or sightseeing. Tours can be arranged daily
by your local guide.
Transfer to the airport for your return flight on Kenya Airways
departing Monday at approximately 1:00pm. Your
arrival at Copenhagen is scheduled at 7:30pm.
or
Day 11 Tuesday or Day 18 Tuesday.
After breakfast you are on your own to go shopping or
sightseeing in the Danish Capital. There are lots of excellent shops
The Royal Copenhagen shop, Illums department store and much
much more. A dinner is recommended at one of the many
waterfront seafood restaurants, or at a local place such as Parnas
is also a good recommendation. Prices there are reasonable, and
the local dishes are great.
Day 12 Wednesday or day 19 Wednesday.
After breakfast you transfer back to the airport for your trip home.
You should check-in 2 hours prior to your scheduled departure.
You have just enough time to do some last minute
duty free shopping, Copenhagen Airport shopping center being one
of the best in Europe.
Day 10 Tuesday
After breakfast you will leave Manyara and drive up to Arusha
where you will have lunch. The afternoon will be free and dinner
as well as overnight will be at Arusha.
Day 11 Wednesday
After breakfast you will drive to the border, change busses, and
continue to Mombasa. You will arrive at lunch time at the
Travellers Beach Hotel. The afternoon and evening is on your own
Day 12 Thursday - Day 19 Thursday
You will spend one week on the shores at Mombasa.
This is a wonderful opportunity to take some excursions to
Zanzibar the Tanzanian Island in the Indian Ocean, or Lamu Island
The Muslim enclave off Kenyas coast in the Indian Ocean.
These are options we can arrange for you prior to departure.
Day 19 - Thursday
After an early breakfast your flight departs Mombasa for London
at 07:00am, arriving early afternoon at London Heathrows Airport
where you will connect to the SAS flight getting into
Copenhagen early afetrnoon. You will transfer to the Dan Hotel,
or similar, for an overnight. Dinner is on your own.
Day 20 - Friday
After Breakfast transfer back to the airport for your trip home.
You should check-in 2 hours prior to your scheduled departure.
You have just enough time to do some last minute
duty free shopping, Copenhagen Airport shopping center being one
of the best in Europe.
Tour includes air transportation, all transfers and tours according to
the itinerary, full board on safari, half board at the beach. based on
two persons sharing a twin bedded room.
Options can be arranged separately either in Mombasa or prior to departure.
